School Renovations in Progress
A Great Victory for St. Joseph’s
In their first Lennon cup since 2003 our Under 18 footballers beat St. Mary’s Dundalk in by 1.8 to 0.9.
An early goal by Jamie King and a fine penalty by Mattock Rangers goalkeeper, Tim smith proved crucial in deciding this game. The wet and cold conditions on the night also proved a major factor on the quality of the play by both teams. However St. Josephs stuck together and came out on top with captain, Michael McKeown bringing back the cup to St. Joseph’ s for six years.
Our junior footballers have also fared well with a win by the Under 16’s in the North Leinster Championships, against Dunboyne VEC. The final result was 4.7 to 2.11 with main scorers being Michael Flanagan, Ronan Fitzpatrick, Anthony Lynch and our main scorer on the day - Darren Hoey scoring two goals. The match was held in Darver

What an Achievement?
St Joseph’s India project
On Oct 20th seven students travelled to Shillong, a city in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains in North East India as part of the St. Joseph’s India project.
The students, Sean Tester, John McEneaney, Ciaran Brennan, Eoghan Reilly, Cillian O’Gara, David ledwith and Andrew Reddin were accompanied by Mr. Mansfield, Ms. McCabe, and Mr. Nolan.
While in India the group were teaching English to children who otherwise would not have this opportunity while also improving their own knowledge and insights into the lives of a children from another culture. We look forward to hearing from them when they return in early November

Oireachtas Members Go Back to School
Louth Oireachtas Members Fergus O'Dowd TD, and Arthur Morgan TD went back to school on the 16th October when they paid a visit to students at St Joseph's CBS, Drogheda. They spent time with Junior Certificate CSPE (Civil, Social and Political Education) students at St Joseph's CBS as part of the Houses of Oireachtas Education Outreach Programme, which is being rolled out to secondary schools across the country, to facilitate a better understanding of the role of elected representatives and explain the functions of the Dáil and Seanad.
CSPE class teacher Tracy Murray facilitated a lively hour long debate between the Oireachtas Members and students. During the class, Deputy Fergus O'Dowd and Deputy Arthur Morgan were given the chance to outline their roles as Oireachtas members and explain the work of the Dáil and Seanad, whilestudents also questioned their TDs on a wide range of local and national topics. Some of the issues which came up included: the state of the economy, the aftermath of the Lisbon referendum, the role of the Defence Forces in Ireland, whether there needs to be an election now, and the recent appointment of Louth TD Seamus Kirk to the position of Ceann Comhairle.
