Leaving Cert Class 2010
Students from the Leaving Cert Class of 2010 were all presented with past pupils’ ties by the PPU to mark the students’ graduation at a special ceremony in the school in May. The students were addressed by the President of the PPU, Seán Ó Briain, and a past pupil of the school, Patrick Sullivan, who has just been appointed Principal of Scoil Ard Rí at the tender age of 25.
Students will receive their results of their Leaving Cert examination on Wednesday  18 August and the Past Pupils’ Union would like to wish them every success for the future.
The Peadar Mc Cann Awards for academic, sporting, community and extra-curricular achievement  will be presented by the Union in Autumn.

Reunion of Leaving Cert Class of 1991
There are plans to hold a reunion of Past Pupils from the Leaving Certificate Class of 1991 (and Inter Cert class of 1989).  The event will be held in Spring 2011 and is being organised by a dynamic committee which includes Peter Kierans, originally from Brookville, Drogheda and now of Anglo Printers, Mell, Drogheda.  Lo-call 1890 624 624.

Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Past Pupils’ Union will be held at 8pm on Thursday 23 September 2010 in Scholar’s Townhouse Hotel, Sunday’s Gate, Drogheda. The meeting is open to all past pupils of the school.

Are You Interested in Joining our PPU

St. Joseph’s has a vibrant Past Pupils’ Union, which was first established in 1958. Its members meet on a monthly basis during school term and new members are always welcome.
The next meeting of the Past Pupils will be held in Scholars’ Townhouse Hotel, Sunday’s Gate, Drogheda at 8pm on Thursday, 25 February.  Everyone is welcome.
A reunion of the school’s Inter Cert. class of 1959 and its Leaving Cert class of 1960/61 is currently being planned by Frank Kelly, “Friedland”, Philipstown, Ballymakenny Road, Drogheda and will be held later this year.
Among the activities organised by the Union are:
1.The Peadar Mc Cann awards for student achievement.
2.Presentation of school ties to the Sixth Year students who are graduating.
3.Assisting St. Joseph’s CBS school in its work with students.
4.Supporting other Christian Brothers schools and outreach programmes in India and Africa and on other missions abroad.
5. Establishing a data base of past pupils and facilitating contact and reunions between former students.
6. Linking up with past pupils and encouraging them to share their expertise, work and life experiences with the current students and  school community.

The PPU Celebrate the Sesquicentenary of the Coming of the Christian Brothers to Drogheda with the Launch of their Commemorative Book in 2007
